| Yellow
Indonesian Project |
Recently,
in the last few years, I have seen many yellow Indonesian blue
tongues (Tiliqua gigas gigas) come into the US probably gathered
from some particular locality. Unlike the earlier animals which were near
black, these are a radiant yellow and I decided to acquire three of them,
all unrelated juveniles.
While
their temperament is testy, I am currently working with them in hopes of
taming them sufficiently as to be easily handleable.
Many
people fail to realize just how much variety exists in blue tongue skinks
especially with t.g.g. each quite
unique and worth propagating. In the past, when the dark black indos were
coming in frequently, I thought they were drab and plain but now they are rare. I
haven't seen them in years. I wish I could've bought them then.
I
hope to breed them at the end of this year and have babies (possibly
available) in '07.
These
pictures were taken outside and the sun was extremely bright on this
particular day. I'll redo them when time and the weather permits. You can
still see the great yellow coloration of these very gorgeous skinks.
